Finance Meeting

QUEENSFERRY COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Minutes of the meeting of the Finance Committee held 7.OOpm Monday 10th January 2005 at the Community Centre, Sandycroft.

Present:

Councillors: D. Clare, (Presiding) P Wisinger, and the Clerk/RFO

1. Apologies:

2. Matters Arising From the Minutes held 13 December 2004

Broken fence in front of the Community Centre/it was agreed that the contractor J Martin commence the work
Office Equipment / it was agreed that a new fax machine in addition to a photocopier to be purchased before the end of the financial year.

3. To consider costs of the recent destruction by vandalism including Chester Road Bus Shelter

After discussion, Councillors agreed that recommendation be made to the full council that “The bus shelter should be replaced by a new polycarbonate shelter, match funded with the Authority at a cost of £2000, plus £250 costs for the removal of the existing shelter”.

4. To Consider the Precept 2005/2006

After discussion and taking into consideration the increased costs that would apply to the council’s financial resources, due to the recent acts of vandalism it was Proposed by Cllr. D. Clare and Seconded by Cllr. D. Wisinger that a recommendation be made to full council that the Precept should be raised to £24.500

5. Any Other Financial Business.

To consider requests for Financial Assistance.

Recommendation would be made to full council that the following grants be given:

Sandycroft Community Centre £500
Society of St. Vincent de Paul £100
Sandycroft Over 60s Club £100
Welsh border Community Centre £100

Total awarded in Grants £800.

· Bridge Villas Rear Access / After discussion it was agreed that a Sub-Committee was necessary for discussion prior to full council meetings. It was suggested that Councillors of the Sub-committee being: - Cllrs. D Clare, D Roberts, J D Vyse, D Wisinger, Mrs. S Wynn and the Clerk. Clarification was required on the ownership of the strip of land between the properties and gardens.

· Cllr. D. Clare mentioned the lack of high-way street lighting on Station Road, Sandycroft.
